Guts, starvation and the reality of poverty
Yah, that title is clickbait, LOL.
Lets face one fact though, POVERTY was the norm for millenia; our recent reality where even the poorest in our country get too much of the wrong foods is the outlier. But that’s not the point of this missive,,,
Talking about my ‘Diet’ is more in line with what I intended with that title, at first. I couldn’t resist the clickbait call,,,
Been on this ‘diet’ for 2 1/2 weeks now. POSITIVES: my skin is not just showing signs of recovery: as in, its not looking like parchment strecthed over my muscles, but showing depth and elasticity again. I don’t get the minor bloodbruise when the wind blows the wrong way, nor when I bump into something, AND I’m not bleeding like a stuck pig. Fact: when I check my glucose now, I have to squeeze the prick site to get the blood to check,,, used to be ‘prick the fingertip’ and it would FLOW,,,,
Positive 2: Blood Glucose was running around 100-110 on average through the day. I am now down to 80-90, with spikes of 110 after meals. It doesn’t drop below that 80 that I have seen, and my energy levels are rock solid, with the occasional ‘bouncin’ off the walls’ spurts, but no crashes that aren’t daylight/night triggered.
Positive 3. adusted my belt tighter by two notches. I can’t tell you how happy that made me, but now I’m starting to look like a scarecrow in my jeans. Time to bust out the jeans from a couple years back so I don’t look like a walking tent flap.
Positve 4: I don’t HURT,,, My achy shoulders and knees,,, gone. I was at a jobsite, working on the ground, and got up without creaking like an old Oak door. The customer there with me, made comment that he was envious that I could move so well. (I didn’t tell him that two weeks ago, I’d have needed to twist over onto my knees to stand back up. BUT, I did get an internal glow that I am improving my world.) This could be considered a 5th PRO; I’m moving easier, but I think the two, moving easier and not hurting, are related.
This is a positive, but kind of a con as well. Bathroom breaks,,,, Bar the door, bust out the hazmat gear,,,, Good God in heaven, the things my body is dumping out,,,,, This is definitely a two edged sword, but I can’t deny that what I am expelling, is for the best, leaving me. Sorry septic tank and the surrounding vegetation over the leech-lines,,,,
To fill in the blanks,,, its not really a diet. I can eat whatever I want, with the exception of the Sodas/Pop thing. I am limiting myself to one a day, or less. Black coffee otherwise, and since I do like a sweet cup now and again, using the sucralose stuff instead of sugar. One cup a day I get creamer in (real cream, not that fake shit.), but not before 10am, and not after I come home. Thats more to appease any ‘I’m hungry’s from the middle section. It does break the fast, but there are times where I just don’t have the luxury of being able to sit and eat when the growlies start. (and I no longer ‘eat on the run’,,, Thats another aspect I had to change: wolfing my meals down. thats a no-no. I’m not the young wolf I was while in the Marines.) What I am doing is limiting my feeding times. I get to eat between 10am and 4pm. If I don’t eat in that window, I don’t eat for the day. Fluids only, black coffee, switchel (apple cider vinegar 2Tbsp, 12 oz water, pinch of salt, 1/2tspn of honey.) or water, just good old plain water. THAT took some getting used to. I have never liked the taste of water, but now that my body is not geared for SWEETSWEETSWEET, it actually tastes damned good.
But saying that I can eat ‘whatever I want’ is sort of fibbing. I limit what I am eating to high protein, natural fats, some fiberous stuff (like avocados; loaded with fat and fiber.) zero carbs. No pasta, no breads, no rice, no cereals: MEAT and FAT are the dominants. Nothing like a thick ribeye, seared hot and served bleeding to get my energy levels up. Eat one of those and I am as energized as Cozzie, bouncin’ off the walls and rarin’ to go. (little history: I love very rare meats, call me the carnivore. Had a waitress pass out once when I cut into my steak at a restaurant, and the blood OOZED out,,, I think that particular steak TWITCHED when the cook threw it on the grill. Sear it to keep the juices in, get it to body temp and I’m good! Add a little salt to taste: no need for the sauces to hide the taste of a good cut.)
Like the horror story? Send me a tip so I can go buy a steak! Thanks in advance.
Now for the CONS: Its a minor issue, but we are heading into the holidays where EATING is the center of attraction. I’ve been thinking how I am going to handle this since I do not want to mess with something that is working so well. And it IS,,,
The biggest ‘downer’ being, no alcohol,,, Thats a staple amongst the Kayaking friends.
oh,,, I forgot to mention that part didn’t I? Yeah,,,, NO alcohol, no evening wind-down shots of bourbon, no beers after mowing the grass,
One main idea here is to clean up my liver,,, and it is working. Without an MRI or other checks, I can’t tell you in detail how its working, I can only tell you how I feel. The area in my torso where my liver resides, is shriinking,,, Right there at the bottom of my ribcage, just below my diaphragm. It doesn’t feel bloated anymore. I can see that the liver is shedding wieght by the lowered glucose levels. I feel “Tight” in the stomach muscles again, even though I am still a touch flabby around the middle (But even that is showing a lot of loosness that it wasn’t 2 weeks ago.)
This Diet is more inline to how our ancestors lived, not starving, but limited in what they had, when they had it. And my body is responding exactly as it should be.

When the body sees lowered levels of FOOD, (blood sugar levels lowering.) it starts to clear out all the ‘dead weight’ of broken cells, sick cells, CANCEROUS cells,▪︎ and other toxins in the system. The Liver is not overloaded trying to keep up, and starts to clean itself out too. Other parts of you, like your GUTS, get a break and can recover, if you aren’t grazing like a Cow all day.(and thats why my bathroom breaks have been ‘olfactory nightmares’, lots of literal crap being removed.)
and I haven’t shed a pound. My skin recovering adds back the weight I am shedding by losing all this fat. My muscles are replacing bad cells with NEW ones, more Redmuscle mass, not the just lean muscle mass. My blood is thickening up and become more functional again, not that watery mess that I used to leak out with the slightest scratch. THAT means weight being added back, but a leaner meaner ME in the end.
NOPE, I don’t think this is for everyone. Many people won’t have the WILL to subject themselves to an 18/6 fast/feed diet. Too many will buck when they realize that they can’t eat all day long. OR have the discipline when 4pm comes around and they realize they hadn’t ate yet. Even I struggle, more with the cutting of the sodas thing, which IS a physical addiction as I have found. But yes, I struggle come 4pm, but it is getting easier. Especially when I see the body responding in VERY positive ways. Heck,, I did 30 minutes of Planking tonight, playing with Cozzie on the living room floor. I wasn’t able to do that a month ago.
I do feel 10 years younger,,, Seriously,,,, at least 10 years,,,
But it won’t fit for everyone. I do suggest cutting the feed times down, and stop eating altogether, earlier, even if its not 4pm like I chose. Longer fasting in the morning probably does more than cutting the feed early. Stop the grazing too. We are not cows. We are the pinnacle of hunters, not herd animals awaiting slaughter. Honor your ancestory as such, and watch your body respond in kind.
If things keep their current trend, being in shape is gonna be important, and knowing you can ‘fast’ without danger, and for how long, could make your supplies last past your current plans.
Let me know what you think,,,

▪︎ Yes, there are studies done, that show cancers and tumors going into remission with fasting. Nothing the MAJOR SICKCARE SYSTEM wants to advertise, but reliable and credible sources. If you want to research this aspect of fasting, you are going to need to be creative in your search prompts as Giggle and the other search engines are wired to suppress certain ‘Counter-Narrative’ information. Use the keyword “Autophagy” along with others, and see what you can find.

Sounds like the ole bod likes the diet! I applaud you, Sir. Well done.
On the coffee aspect, have you given ‘Stevia’ a look? It’s a natural substance, not synthetic. Been using it fer a long spell, due to it’s no calorie, no sugar formula. As such, it’s safe for diabetics – that was the main reason I started with it – the spousal unit was highly diabetic.
Gonna hafta check into that possible cancer fighting ability, too. Thanks fer that!
Y’all take care,

I tossed that in there with you in mind, but wanted others to see it as well. I am not pursueing that aspect (though I probably have a higher chance of it with my being a welder and a lifelong smoker.) I was more concerned about the wieght and that I was headed towards that diabetic thing too. With my glucose levels stabilized nearer to where a healthy persons should be, that doesn’t scare me as much, but I am not out of the woods yet. I have to maintain this, make it habit, or I will lapse right back to where I was, and worse, because the body will see it as ‘coming out of famine”, and respond by building reserves back up. I have to convince the body that this IS the new normal for it. (as well as me own head,,, thats where the real struggle is.)

LOL Following me around is like living in school, ain’t it? Always getting sent around to find out some new bit of information or researching some historical discrepencies,,, That autophagy thing is really whats doing the work on my body right now. That I saw it in my skin FIRST was probably the biggest seller for me, and I won’t lie, I had some doubts. Not anymore.
