The joys of studio work

Opened Audacity tonight, Had my pre-written script all set up,,, and just to let you know/understand, I write the script, but ONLY to keep my head tracking in a certain direction, I don’t ‘Stick to the script’,,, Its not exactly from the hip, like my writing, but it ain’t far from it either.

Now, for those that are expecting a transcript, Yes, there will be one that is verbatim to the ‘cast, and SURPRISE, its via AI,,, Sorry, but thats the best way for me to get that transcript from the raw. I still need to do the typo, misheard word, punctuation corrections, since the AI (LLM actually) doesn’t ‘GET’ my pauses, or chin scratching moments. A LOT of run-on sentences due to that lack of understanding,,,, Those will get corrected BEFORE posting anything.

Just another aspect of the studio work I am doing.

And I find it quite difficult to get more than 10 minute sessions in right now. Not for lack of material, (Oh sheesh, the amount of material flying around right now,,,,). NOPE,,,,

See, this house is HERS,,,, That means that the desk is HERS, and she really doesn’t like sharing that desk with some lumpy laptop and its attendant wires and cables running willhenilhe,,, Her only appreciation of the laptop is “Its warm even if a bit lumpy”. ((Note, it wouldn’t matter if I bought another desk: whichever desk I would be using will be the one SHE wants as hers,,, ))

So, I’ve been recording between MAMA and her demands for attention. I have a feeling that my best recording times will be in the wee AM hours. Lord knows my voice functions better than.

But those intermittent sessions mean MORE editing, and much like writing a novel, edit, re-write (record) review, edit, record, review, edit, record, review. cut the long pauses down (not remove, they have purpose, but a 3 minute pause,,,, NO,,,,). Re-record a section to better fit with the previous session,,,,

DOOD!!!! this studio shit BLOWS. (and like I didn’t know that,,,, I cut and run after my first exposure to it, ran for the excitement of IN YOUR FACE DECIBELS fun. Like THIS!!!

OH those were the days,,,, and yes, I would KILL for just two channels of that board right there, right now. No need for that Volkswagon sized board for what I am doing, but,,,,

And what I am getting ready to write, DO NOT TAKE IT AS A BLEG!!!! I’m doing this shit for FREE,,,,

No,,, not free,,,, its costing me, and not just time. Equipment: microphone mostly, but the new laptop in part, even though I did need a fresher one. And I may end up paying for a hosting service since WordPress doesn’t offer that hosting service in the version I am using. And yes, there is a fair amount of time involved here.

But its giving me something to do and keep me out of trouble with the neighborhood buffoons next door. Aaannnnddddddd, we are going into the winter months, where writing and reading make up most of my ‘off time’.

it really makes me appreciate the likes of Joe Rogan and others. ON that thought,,, I know the man is being paid mad money for his show now, but think about the amount of production staff, audio and video staff that he needs to maintain to keep his show “polished”,,,, When you see the credits for ‘producers’ in movies or hear them read at the end of an audio show,,, THOSE are the people that pull it all together. That was one of my many hats way back when. Low brow production, but the money came out of MY POCKET first, before I ever made a penny back. And good people like being paid for their services.

no, don’t dip into the reserves to send me a single nickel right now. Let me bust my chops, pay my dues, figure out if this is even going to be a thing.

anywhooos,,,, Mama is out roaming for a few minutes and I still have about 10 minutes of script left to cover (probably be 15 minutes of actual talk,,,, I embellish my scripts to a good degree,,,).
