Welcome to my brain. It’s messy. It’s interesting. And it’s all connected if you stick around long enough. "Believe Nothing: no matter who said it, even if I have said it, except it agree with your own reason and common sense. Siddhartha Guatamo, the Buddha.

Pooty itchy-scratchy pupper

Vet appointment made for Wednesday, early eve.  Soonest I could get.   BUT, I need this issue resolved because Cozzie is MISERABLE,,, His fur is showing it, and the gas issue is growing worse.   I’ve dropped him off the kibble completely and that seems to have eased some of the itching issues,  This got damned expensive since I tripled my raw meat purchases to keep the kids fed.   Cozzie eats as much as the three kats combined. And it’s not like he is a glutton, he’s just bigger all around.  Heck,  Voodoo was a glutton, devouring anything put near him and wanting moremoremore,,, : Cozzie will eat and leave the bowl half full and seem completely satisfied.

but that gas,,,, Oh My GAWD,,, I’ve heard Pitties are gassy dawgs, but this,,, MAN,,, Beer and TacoBell farts wouldn’t hold an edge to what this dog looses on the household.

Other than the Itchyscratchy gassy pupper, things are going well.  He is staying home now, off the lead, not chasing nor terrorizing ElGatos, (quite the opposite,, they terrorize him if he gets out of line.)   And he isn’t sneaking over to Couzins place to puppynap the littles. (like he inadvertently did over the weekend.)  I still have the training collar on him (and did need it when he kept insisting on stealing the bathmat.) but for the most part, not needed, except to get his attention, and rarely that now.  A quick snappy call of his name is usually enough now.    The staying home thing was a HUGE blessing and ease of my spirit.  I dislike restraining dogs in this area.  Restrained dogs tend to end up dead for various reasons, mostly because  they can’t escape whatever threats happen by.  Bears aren’t really the issue, its the strays and Yotes.   A restrained dog is easy pickin’s for coyote, and they have no issues with eating ‘their own’, unlike us.

Anywhooos,,,, its HOT, just enough breeze on the porch to make life tolerable, in-house is cooler, but the air flow feels better, and it’s been an interesting day that needs unwound from.   Pooty dawgum resting on my feet, and two smug satisfied looking kittehs bathing on the east wing of the porch (shaded and breezy from the woods)   Its time to relax and let the day go,,,

(p)Update:  Tonight, I was prepping lunch stuff for myself for the morrow, and cracked open a can of Red Salmon.   Before I had the top half off, Cozzie was about climbing my leg snuffin’ and interested like never before.   Curious, sacrifice the can to see what he does.    GONE, bones and all, GONE,,, LOVED IT, looking around for more, relicking the bowl several times to make sure he didn’t miss anything.    I found what his body is craving, and there is plenty of good stuff in Salmon for his skin and fur,,,   Still, going to see the Vet and get her advice, and fill her in on my observations and his reactions to such.  (like the fact that he’ll grudgingly eat beef, prefers chicken, but apparently ADORES fish, at least Salmon for now.  Gonna have to try tunas and such to see further,)

Vet told me when the dog’s guts were upside down to brown burger meat, mix with rice, easy on the rice. It’s worked every time. You don’t need to BROWN the meat, just something closer to cooked than raw. Start small, you can add rice at serving time. You can always brown the meat more. Go slow, figure it out

    • I’m trying to not throw the works at him right now. Go slow as you say, see how things ‘adjust’. And then again, we are going to see the Vet and get an opinion from her,,, BUT, I have heard the beef/rice thing or Chicken/rice thing. As well as pumpkin curd to ‘stiffen’ up stool issues (reduces gassy reactions)
Not ruling a damned thing out, but don’t want to create more issues by going overboard. (like switching kibble every other day hoping for miracle: never gonna happen, gonna get the pupper guts in turmoil instead)

Hunger isn’t fatal. Dehydration and electolyte exhaustion are.
IDK if Imodium is OK for dogs, but diarrhea is dangerous. Water and electrolytes can be the difference between making it and not. Tiny meals, just atablespoon and water with a dash of salt if you don’t have any electrolyte packs.
