Welcome to my brain. It’s messy. It’s interesting. And it’s all connected if you stick around long enough. "Believe Nothing: no matter who said, even if I have said it, except it agree with your own reason and common sense. Siddhartha Guatamo, the Buddha.

Thinkin’ on DOGE and other things

Not just the DOGE thing, but implications and accusations I have been hearing.   One of the biggest accusations is “We are suddenly going to have a million out of work peeps on our hands”

“Welcome to the Private Sector!” is my response.

Seriously, I have never been given a promise that work would be a given, EVER.    There have been jobs I had where I left on Friday fully employeed; came back on Monday with security standing next to a box with all my stuff in it (right next to a dozen or more boxes from the other employees desks.)   The entire section was laid off over the weekend and no clue it was coming.

Its sucks, YES, but that is the risk of working for others.   AND GOVERNMENT SHOULD BE NO EXCEPTION.     I have heard some of the rules that the Unions have made with Zero Termination Clauses and such, and my mind boggles.   (thats not just government employees, but is typical of such.)    I have never held a job I can’t be fired from, and Meritocracy was the order of the day in them all.   If you can’t do the job, or worse, can’t show up for it, you were no longer employed, period, dot slash end discussion.   And there was no safety net of unemployment insurance since if you couldn’t manage to get to work, then your termination was ‘justified’.

DOGE (Musk and crew) have stated that they would be offering substantial seperation packages in the upcoming fun.     Better to lose a little on the seperation than much more over decades of useless make work type bullshit with 5 weeks PTO a year, plus 2 weeks Sick leave, among the many other bene’s.

Welcome to the Private Sector.   I kinda doubt you are going to find any work mirroring your last position, so you may wanna bone up on those things called “skills”.

But the real thing I am hoping for,,, I want to see the States doing similar actions.   I want to see a culling of the useless eaters that suck up “WorkFare”, bleeding away tax revenues for ‘showing up’.

Maybe if this little experiment shows substantial reduction of the size of Government and in conjunction, GOVERNMENT SPENDING, than maybe there are some Governors that would implement the same at the State level.  Probably not Califruitopia,,,, (sorry BOM)

Shrinking the scope of the Agencies and Bureaus should be the key goal here.   I just can’t fathom the sheer number of redundant agencies out there.   ITs micro-management at its worst.  Micro-managed businesses FAIL, and the only thing that has been propping this one up is tax revenues and fake money.

Cut the Fat,  trim it down to the basics.  Encourage people to take back some of their power (like security at airports) and do away with hated agencies that do nothing (TSA: 400+ employees arrested for a myriad of charges, ZERO terrorists caught in its 23 years existence.  And it hampers travel business.)

BUT THE BIGGEST THING THAT NEEDS REMOVED*

Some of those Omnibus bills that keep getting re-upped on their Sunset dates.  Like the PATRIOT ACT.   That damned thing does nothing GOOD for this country and only increases the size and scope and power of the PROBLEM.    Get the Government out of the Insurance business is another aspect.

Sure, if these things happen, its gonna be rough and tumble for a few years as the disturbance spreads out.   But after the initial wave front, the waters will calm down and the markets will find working solutions, DECENTRALIZED SOLUTIONS, LOCAL SOLUTIONS that fit what the communities need, not some mandated ‘one size fits all’ regulation that makes life difficult and can be corrupted with ease.

Tighten that belt, things are going to get WYRD for awhile, but I think, and I hope it happens fast enough, when the turmoil has settled down, the end result will be more like it was when I was a kid, ONLY BETTER.    People being people, not screaming toddlers afraid of their own shadows.

*maybe the biggest thing needed removed is the Department of Education.   That is a failed experiment to the Nth degree.   And yet we continue to throw more and more money down that hole to improve it.     Cut the beast loose, let the local communities decide standards, and deregulate teaching certification.    We already have the laws on the books to handle bad actors (pedophiles, which the Zero Termination Clauses protect) and let meritocracy come back into play.  If you can teach, TEACH; if you can only babysit, go home.    Sure, there will be some bad actors that slip through the cracks, and some children will fall prey to them, but over the long run, those will go the wayside as the laws are engaged and acted on.  The price to pay will be to high for that sort so they will look elsewhere.      ON an aside to that, I think we need to bring back one standard that was common place through to the 1900’s, and still is with us in name only.    Elementary schools, High(er) schools, then College and Graduate schools.     Elementary through the 8th grade.   75% of the populace only needs that, and can do wonderous things with it, (Edison was only an 8th grade graduate.)  Let the kids start working earlier than we currently have been.   The High Schools should handle those that show promise, and from there, they can matriculate into the colleges and graduate schools as ability is shown.    Not everyone needs Formal “Liberal” education.  Liberal being the ORIGINAL Defintion of higher education, meaning ‘broadly applied’ but was stolen by leftoids and twisted in meaning.  IN a nutshell: bring back the Trivium and Quadrivium education cycles and let this failed ‘everyone gets the same education and equal outcomes’ Shitte go to hell in a handbasket.   Kill the subsidized higher education programs and let them compete as they used to.  Prices will fall accordingly.    And amazingly, Standards will rise.
