The Dam on Pigeon River, got hammered hard with all of this rain from Demi-Hurricane Helene,,, I say Demi-hurricane because it never reached hurricane status by NOAA, but the news has been pounding it as horrific and world ending (just ask BCE)
She may not have pummeled the coasties, but she is whoopin’ the shit out of the Appalachians.
This is northbound I40 about 6 miles north of the NC/TN border.

doubt my source, I do. when it comes to weather, I use one app, weather underground, and nothing else. Its pretty accurate, about as accurate as any weather predictor is. And as for the ‘hurricane’, when I looked last (wednesday) it was still listed as a tropical storm with no defined ‘Eye’,,,, shit changes
fact is, it still washed out a huge section of North Carolina. I heard (didn’t see it mine eyes) that area got 30″ of rain in 24 hours, and seeing video evidence of the river levels in that area, I can believe it.
and yup, the ‘redneck crackers’ were standing on bridges watching the water rise, filming it all.
one thing I do want to ‘correct’. The dam did not ‘Fail’; that was a misreading of the notice from TVA. It read ‘imminent failure’, which means it was cresting the dam and they opened the flood gates. There was a lot of bits and peices of info flying around yesterday afternoon about that, and it was coming fast enough that some flotsom muddied the stream.

yeah I use weather underground also for a local radar shot. The local spews pretty much stopped reporting about the time it hit landfall up in the armpit of fladuh. No one lives there don’tcha know lol.
