Brain afire
All day long,,, tryin’ to come up with solutions to how I can avoid buying a $600 tool that I might only use ONCE.

Now, I DO have the ability to machine some parts above, even have some, like that 1-2-3 block (machinist tool, DUH!)
And my mind keeps wandering back to that slot I pic’ed in the last post. I am certain it’s meant to lock in part of a boring bar set for boring the pinion hole, but there is no reason I can’t use it to.
So far I have half a dozen options/ideas, but not in a spot where I can do a danged thing
Except think about it,,,
Simplicity is the key, accuracy is the target, and the Ultimate goal is to do this, one LAST time, and be GOOD!!!
Just need the Buff to not tear her ass apart again while I get my shit together,,,,
Keep on livin’

Wish I could help ya out in this one buddy, but it’s out of my depth I’m afraid. I would suggest trying to find the tool used on eBay or some such, but I know time is of the essence. Of course the flipside of that could be – buy the tool, use it to get your ol’ girl back in shape, then put it up for sale to recoup “most” of your expense…
Then again, if you’re anything like me, once a tool is in hand, I’m very, VERY unlikely to part with it! You know, “just in case”! The only time I can recall selling tools was a set of Matco combo wrenches I had, that was literally my 3rd set of duplicate sizes. I had no need for them, was DESPERATE for rent money and I STILL regret. selling them. And that was 15 years ago! Yeah, I gotta problem… I always convince myself that with tools I can either make money or save money, so in my (highly biased) mind, it’s never a “waste”…

Yes, absolutely loathe selling off a tool(s)
And if I were working a shop or operating one, I would make this purchase without a qualm, tools make ya money in those cases. I’m turning wrench on my stuff to save that lucre,,, (kinda sorta)
I have options though, I know what the set ups are and can make a fair facsimile there of: might even be near perfect (though I certainly am not batting 1000 right now,,,) all I need do is get a solid measurement from the axle center to pinion face and the rest is math
