Naw, I’m not eclectic,,,,

The above pic is what is on my current read efforts. Yes, All four of them. What isn’t pictured are the two fictionals that I use to unwind so I can focus on the above.
and that doesn’t include the number of websites I take in on the daily, nor the number of words that I tap out,,, (and you get to read about one in four of what I type, as I end up deleting quite a bit.)
The above: Rhetoric, laymans medicine, Education principles, and Theology (comparitve, I do A LOT of the comparitive. ) Despite the bleating of the Baptist ministers, I do NOT believe any ONE religion is the Ulitimate Truth. Take that particular tome above. Books that were removed from the Canonicals by Constantine,,, (and Constantine was was right around the break from Rome and the Orthodox ministries that are predominant in Asia.) Why were they removed? A mans answer is not sufficient to this Contrarian. I want to read them and see if there was serious confluence, influence, counter-influence, what have you, that would impell the clergy of that time to “Edit with Prejudice”.
And I can see why they did, but not for the reasons claimed. Much of the text that I am reading currently sounds MUCH more in line with Buddhism.
and there are discrepencies in some time frames, as one ‘book’ states that Christ resurrected and continued teaching the disciples for another 11 years (sophia of jesus christ)
LOL… Word of man indeed,,,, Narratives MUST be maintained, MUST!!! Any dissenting voice, even those of the disciples Peter and Philip, MUST BE QUELLED or people might start to think for themselves,,, Can’t be having that, now can we,,,,
That last line of thought, boiled down from years of self imposed exploration, is why I have no love of ORGANIZED RELIGION. That I have thoughts that parallel or mirror thiers, YES, but that I refuse to accept that there is ONE true word when the words we have been allowed to study ARE CENSORED, or mistranslated (intentionally by all accounts from discovered notes between King James’ scribes.) and mistranslations due to ‘language nuances’ lost in time. We see the evolution of language year to year now, and I am certain that similar was happening back then (just a much more sedate pace since communications were slower.) Things that meant “this” in 1990, are meaningless today unless you are speaking to someone that was using “this” back then: and you will likely get a strange look or a belly-laugh from said person. One passage in particular comes to mind. From the KJV: thou shalt not suffer a witch to live. The original, in greek, used the word pharmakia (my spelling my be whacked, but phonetically correct) It means POISONER in the context of the wording (it has many meanings, but ancient greek and latin are VERY contextual languages.) Why the switch? According to some notes between two scribes,,, they were uncomfortable giving accurate translation as King James was being prosecuted on suspicion of poisoning a wife/rival/opponent or some such (total recall just slipped a tooth.) and to have that translated out as poisoner would give his rivals “reason” to call for his head on a pike.
It came down to POLITICS
Pretty much the same reason these particular chapters were removed from the common form for distribution.
Now on one note, I can see why one chapter was left behind. The Gospel of Thomas: It contains 114 sayings of Christ. Some of them,,, I can’t really tell if the problem was one of translation from the original Coptic text, IE, nuances of language lost, OR, Thomas or his scribe were long in tooth and dementia was kickin’ in. Some of those sayings seem to be Biden-esque in flavor. I read them and stumble, re-read it and trip, then read it a third time and scratch the skulls asking “Whaaaadafuk???” (and to note, SOME of the more commonsensical ones are repeated in the other Gospels more commonly known.) I do know that Thomas was the Doubter of the twelve, and was also one of the mans favorites, maybe there is some of that doubt mixed into the original text and it colored the translation (nuances, lost contexts,,,)
And I am just some ‘uneducted lunk’ that has a hobby of asking “WHY?” way to much,,,,so take me with a grain of salt and maybe a shot of whiskey to calm the nerves, IF I am picking some scabs of yours by writing what I am. And that ‘asking ‘WHY?’ way to much” is from my Grands on my mothers side (genetic disposition or the little bit of influence they had on me as a child,, can’t say, but that disposition is VERY Strong.)
============================
April Showers,,, Lots of little spring showers today at the J.O.B. We managed to get a bit done, and Bossman decided to call it early,,, Fine by me, three days of wet feet is enough for this old ground pounder. One more day to weekends, and its supposed to be rather dry (comparitively speaking) and HOT,,, I want to spend at least one day with paddle in hand, butt in boat, and cruise around on my favorite church. Probably gonna be some boat traffic withh the warms, so waves a plenty, (and windy as well, forgot to mention that,)
Admittedly, I have some thinks that need to percolate and the ZEN of paddling definitely helps there.
more laters,,,
Keep on livin’
