The pursuit continues
I’s Satyrday, (those that know the spelling, know the history,,,) and I am chasing down ANOTHER 30+y.o. boat.
Cheap, Complete, NEAR NEW CONDITION, extra accessories that are New Old Stock,,, did I mention CHEAP,,,
3.5meter slalom boat, White water type, more my type of paddling than the current issue spud boats, not a long boat like Lyssa or BJ, but longer than is currently in trend.
Think “this” image

that was my Pirouette (Betty Boof) on the beach in SC. A little too small for my leggy self and why she went away, but the new (old) boat is much the same in shape/dimensions but for a larger person. My only hesitation is that she is not a ‘proline’. That series started a year later in 93. The plastic used in the prolines was thicker and double walled, so a bit tougher in the soup. Thats ok,,, I have no intention of going higher than class 3 stuff and do NOT do waterfalls, she’ll work just fine for my needs.
No pics of her yet, but that will happen at some point today. May take her to the lake and do a trial float to make sure she is gonna fit me like she should (before I actually lay down cash,,) but her outfitting needs upgraded before I do a long float. I already know my backside and that seat pan don’t mesh well without some added help; not my first boat with that hardpanned seat.
Yes, Kayaking is an addiction,,, more so than Motorcycles were, IMO. (I never had more than two bikes, but I know of some that have stables full,,, Hi Mikey!) one thing about this addiction though,, MUCH LESS COMPLICATION,,, Kayaks are mechanically simple (no moving parts in most cases other than seating adjustments) but boy do they take up some real estate. But tons LESS paperwork involved.
I could be worse about it

And to be fair, I have more money tied up in things like PFD’s, paddles, and other periphery that kayaks require, than I do in the boats themselves. And I break even in most cases, selling for what I purchased them at. once for profit, once for loss. (and I am thinking that Lizzy is going to be at loss.)
Anywhooosits,,, Time to go chase down a torpedo boat, and maybe (most likely) bring her home with me.
