Life among the flicker bulbs of questionable wattage,,,,
Remember that new guy I talked about earlier this week?
yeah, that’un
No need to detail the incident, just a blow up from me on stoopid, and yeah, I probably could’ve handled it better, but I think I did pretty well, in hind sight,,, I just turned the truck around, headed back to where the rest of the crew were working and swapped him out for one that I KNEW could handle being told what to do.
Jackanape newb decided that he is going to find a better job,,,,,
Don’t ask Ol’ Dio for a reference newbie,,, (and my saying “your reputation precedes you” was dead accurate, AGAIN. ) I only hope he actually carries it forward and leaves our company,,, I’ve had too many run-ins with the ‘no man tells me what to do’ from pissant little shits.
Is it prejudiced of me to call it like I see it? I always figured that was just honesty (maybe to fault, but HONESTY) Am I biased? Yes, but not to the point of failure. I give ’em the rope to hang themselves,,, and some surprise me, and right now there are two that have done just that. But this’un,,,, un-uh,, the hung that rope with STYLE and jumped right into that noose all on his very own.
sigh
I even asked Bones when I got back to shop if I was just that grumpy old bastard that everybody hated on the jobs, and he said “You?,, everyone fights to get on your crew,,,”(which I know isn’t entirely true as there are a couple that despise working with me because I don’t let them slack off)
I don’t ask much of my guys. “Show up, everyday” “Do what you’re told, ask questions if not sure” “THINK” and thats about it. I do ask that they are sober/clear headed when they come in, but I don’t send them home if they are obviously flying at low altitudes. I just watch them and try to keep the stuff I give them simple/low consequence in case they are ‘that fucked up’. Doesn’t do any good to send them home, (since most of them can’t and shouldn’t drive) and the bossman just looks the otherway because ‘They fill the bill of ‘body on deck'”
I can tell you one thing though; the ossifer training of Uncle Sams Misguided Chill’uns rule of ‘Lead by example’ is flat shitte when it comes to most of these ‘tards. My example doesn’t register with them,,,(broad brush, some ‘get it’,,,,) Those that do like working with me know that if I am tossing orders about, its becaues I already have three or more hands full and only two hands available.
It’s my payday, One more day to go before I get a break from the asylum,,, at least today I was able to wrap up in the shop, alone with shop kats and dawgums, my music and some fabs that needed done. Blessed relief that was, let me tell ya. one more day,,, just keep putting those feet forward and you eventually walk out the otherside.
more laters.
