Welcome to my brain. It’s messy. It’s interesting. And it’s all connected if you stick around long enough. "Believe Nothing: no matter who said it, even if I have said it, except it agree with your own reason and common sense. Siddhartha Guatamo, the Buddha.

That competency thing

Just doin’ some cruizin’ around the webs and read this peice by BCE, and gotz ta thinkin’ ’bout COMPETENCY and how what was, ain’t so much anymore,,,,,

Other than my short stint as a jarhead, I have never worked for ANY governmental institution, though I did have some run-in’s while doing the audio touring thing, where we would provide production equipment for (p)Residential hopefuls. (AKA The Shrub, and yes, I has pics,,, WHCA is a branch of SS and I even have a wall decoration from them for my ‘service’ )

The difference between GOV jobs and Private sector, or should I say the late difference since I have noted mission creep between the two lately: the difference is EXPECTATIONS, Competency was/should be/ usedtabe, a key considertation is hiring practices. Punctuality was another, etcetcetcetc,,,,

Not so much anymore. Even at the J.O.B. we hire for the body to fill a space more than skill or competence or punctuality and it drives Ol’ Dio absolutely frillin’ NUTZ,,,, Of all of us, there are only TWO that can be counted on to show, everyday. Of all of us, there are only two that have shown any competence at tasks at hand (and ya, I know it takes time to build skills, but I am talking simplicity, like handling a pair of post hole diggers,,,,)

In BCE’s post, he talks about the clocks being off around the whole place,,, This isn’t new to me; I saw it a bit at the Uni-hospital I worked at back in the late Aughts. (I worked as a computer Tech for two years, one of which was contracted to the hospital. Loved the hospital job as I was break fix and was able to get around. Second job was literal ‘chained to desk’ and I hated that enough that when it went buh-bye,,, SO did I: started swingin’ hammers as a carpenter because I could.) But yeah, clocks all wonky was a norm. Would have three clocks in one passageway and all three would show different times.

I got to thinking about that,,,, When I was in the Indoctrination mills, the clocks were all synched from the main office, little stepper motors in them that could be triggered to realign to 12midnight and reset the mechanism. Each ran independently other than that synch time, and all were ‘shore powered’. (how do I know this since I wasn’t maintenence? LOL We ‘recalibrated’ the clock in the physics lab by zapping it with a magnatron,,,,Don’t ask.) Well, these days, that clock set-up is a by-gone of ‘Great American Ingenuity’ and government budgets. That set up would cost 20 times more than a crate of Chinesium battery powered time dividers,,,, and the bean counters LOVE being able to skim a little here, a little there, and how best to do that than by laundering a high priced item like CLOCKS with cheap simularcums.

Sovietization at its finest.

This is not a dig on capitalism,,, The fact that the company that made the clocks in my highschool is likely no more is beside the point, that said company went downhill/bankrupt is a feature, not a bug of what has been going on in this country for some time, all the way back into the seventies when we started shipping production overseas to Japan, then Taiwan, and now China. The Japanese took to capitalism and look at the GOOD stuff they produce now*. Taiwan, same, and their prices have grown to match. China has shown improvements in quality, but they are still the counterfeit Cartell, and will happily steal ideas to copy and shortchange on, at the price of quality, and it does show in some of the cheaper stuff you get on the Zon. (note, this is not a dig on the chinese people in general, but the mentality that is encouraged by its leadershits.)(* and most japanese cars are now made in America,,, Go figure,,, Toyota has three plants here in KY, Subaru has its main plant in Indiana, Honda has several scattered around CONUS. Taxes and property values make it cheaper to produce here and ship home than keep production onshore in Japan. Further signs that Capitalism WORKS, and GOVernment fucks it up.)

Competency,,, We needs it. And for that, I lay blame in the indoctrination mills laps, completely. They don’t encouuurage competents, they don’t want thinkers, they want good tax slaves and that breeds incompetence and zero drive drones. Males are discouraged at every fork in learning, and the girls are fed lie upon lie about ‘gurlpower’, and now we have the 59 different ‘gender’ crap that is only more confusing and divisive,,,,

The (accurate) clock on my wall is telling me I need to be punctual and get my COMPETENT ass to work,,,, so

more laters.
