The little things they don’t tell ya

Recently, Verizon purchased StraightTalk and things ‘changed’ a bit. First I noted was that download/upload speeds were ‘off’. Text seemed to take forever, but vids went right through. Bassackwards IMO.

Well, today, I received a text message telling me I was nearing the end of my data plan. It just rolled over on the 29th, unlimited data with a 5GB hotspot,,,,

Went an rechecked the card I purchased to extend my account: Small print, “up to 10GB of data at highspeed, then at 2G speeds” and of course the Hotspot applies to that 10GB limit,,,

*Sigh* My phone bill just ‘went up’ again. The only damned utility bill I have of course, but I have such an online presence, I NEED that link. AND information that always is needed access to; I need that link. Hates the phones, but we are in a world that, quite literally, DEMANDS online access. My Da doesn’t have much online presence but even he uses it. No Email addy, and that drives the medico’s absolutely nutz,,, but he has developed a mild addiction to UTooB vids. And I can’t say as I blame him since the production value of some of the ‘channels’ is heads and tails above regular programming, and the subject matters can be picked through like looking up a reading genre at the library. (he has an addiction to Bee keeping Vids, and some HAWT European Singers,,, He may be getting up in age, but his tastes in women hasn’t changed a bit,,,,LOL)

Oh well, I can handle a bit of an increase in the phone dealies, and I do need that access, even if the signal around here sucks ass,,, When I am out n about, things move so much faster and cleaner, and I don’t waste time (or data) fudging through searchs or research.

Unk and I were just talking the other day about getting that fiber hook up, up here on the hill. It has increased in price to nearly double what it was, and of course, you pay for THIER infrastructure up front on that one, but you still have the bill straight out of the gate to boot. Seems a bit “Highway Robbery” to me, but they have all the cards and all I have is a measely little bank account that doesn’t want to pay for their infrastructure up front. I could swallow it easier if they would give, say, a one year break on the billing (even just a discounted price for one year) but that’s not how they have the cards stacked. So, I wait until such time as I can effect a move out of the armpit of KY,,,,Or they get their shit together and stretch their infrastructure out.

I was a ‘good boy’ today, Did chores, and hammered down some of those “I’ll get to it later’s”. New blower motor in Buffalo, figured out that ‘no’ I don’t have a blend door issue, I had a vacuum line issue, and fixed that. Still no heat currently but I think that is more the system is plugged up a bit from all the leak additives that had been put in the system to hide that ‘leaky head gasket’, and that I have slowly washed away keeping things running. Really need to get that engine swap done soonest, but,,,, Not this week: Soon though,,, At least now I can blast some AC on my face on those hot ass days,,,, That old blower motor was still running, but sure not putting out much airflow. The new one,,, hell yeah!!!!

While waiting for the epoxy to cure on Lyssa, I did some cockpit work on her. She had some adjustment sliders that had seen better days: I replaced those with some friction buckles I had laying around (old kayak straps that the nylon had frayed to peices on. Re-use, re-purpose, recycle,,,, Not a greenweenie byline anymore, but the Frugal Squirell one.) About 3 I started the wet sanding phase and that went FAST. No gumming up of the paper so I went ahead and buffed out things too. I may hold off on further buffing for a week or so, Let the VOC’s boil off a bit more,,, She buffed, but I know that I can get a better shine than I did. Still good enough to go play tomorrow,,,,

One other thing I wanted to do today, but the sun got away from me: re-align Buff’s front end. Wear and tear of rough country roads, unscheduled off-roading adventures, and several new parts here and there,,, Things are bit wonky on the front end and I am sick of watching rubber wear in strange ways. I was going to use a local guy for this, but when I went to arrange the deal, NO DEAL. Dude’s place was burned to the ground. No idea if it was an accident, or an insurance fraud thing (those are really common place around here,,, There is a reason my insurance is three times higher here than in SinSin-natsy,,,,) SO, string, broomstick, and beam level and I do it in the driveway. Won’t be right but right now, gotta be closer than what I have,,,, Buff squealls like a pig in left hand turns because of the out of kilter wheels. Tire pressure has nothing to do with it in this case.

So, if that all goes well, I take a test drive, and if that passes, LAKE TIME,,,, IF not,,, back to the string and levels and do it again.

And tomorrow is my annual ‘Happy Socialsist’s Holiday” post,,, Not written yet, and I am not sure what area of stoopid I should cover this year, seeing how we have so damned MANY examples to choose from,,,,

Hell, I may even forego the post,,, Too many examples already abound and only the delusional can ignore how frickin’ precarious the situation in our country and on the world stage has become. I may just do some ‘Environmental post’ just for shits and giggles.
