eat an elephant?

One bite at a time,,,,

Yup, yup yup,,,,

Big Gate at the J.O.B.,,, BIG GATE,,,

Seven feet between rolling bars to fit the wire. 40′ opening and we make our cantilever gates at 1.5 length +1′ for the counterbalance. ( I added a little extra for wiggle room when I cut it in half)

This monster is 61 1/2′ long,,,, Managed to weld up the main rolling bars (butt weld two long joints together ) and was trying to set up my shop to handle this beast and finally threw in the towel. It hangs out the bay door 27 feet and I don’t have enough stands to support it level while I am making my welds. I am going to build it in the parking lot come monday: I don’t want it out mucking things up for the bosses in the meantime.

A little here, a little there, and suddenly, you find you have something,,,,

I can have the whole thing roughed in by end of day on muhnday,,, And then, I can figure where I am going to make my cuts so the thing will travel in two peices and ‘final assembly’ at the site. Gonna be a ‘fun’ week: one where knee pads are gonna be neccesary,,,

But me week is OVER!!!! Hot damn, it feels good to be off work for a couple,,,, Was thinking of what I want to do with my weekend (kayak-y wise) and am thinking the Cumberland River,,, Float down a few miles and attain back up,,, Dunno, open area of play with no solid plans in place, and I may just do a lake thing,,, I have Blue Jean this weekend so rivers are not a hardship,,, BJ bounces off rocks where Lyssa may crack up,,, No thanks. But Lyssa is on the horses for a bit longer,,,,( I have 6 days or evenings to finish her up and that seems quite managable right now)(In fact, I am waiting on the last of the repairs to cure so I can fair that area and get it prepped for the epoxy. The rest is ready and waiting for a wipedown of Acetone and application of the gooey stuff.)
