I must be flippin’ nutz,,,,

Here I am, finishing the install of my space heater ON THE HOTTEST DAY OF THE YEAR (so far),,,,,

Filled one of the 100# tanks today since wwe were cut loose early. Both bossman and son decided they didn’t want anyone falling out on them. Not to say they did wrong in the decision, but I heard some grumbles of “cutting my hours” from a couple of peeps. Not that I give those voices merit, allowing that most of the time, those are the same ones that we are always guessing if they will show or not in the morns. My crew? Hell, they were happy for the cut-off today. All three of us were wet to the knees in our own sweat by 11am.

Dawg daze of August a week early? Dunno, but even the birds around my house are in siesta mode this afternoon: too damned hot to be flying after a meal,,,, they’ll be out in force come sevenish though,,,

but that install? went well. have a slightly leaky valve on the tank, but if I run it all the way in or out, the packing tightens up and the leak stops. Just means “no smoking” when changing tanks out, which is just common sense anyway,,, (though it ain’t so common anymore,,,) I’ll research getting a new valve on it later, will probably have to be pressure tested at the same time, and thats what I get for buying used, but totally worth it IMO. Everything else is hunky-dory. Even re-primed the lines, made sure the pilot would fire up, and slowly turned it up to see where the T-stat would kick enough to fire the burner. It’s 83 in my house, and the burner didn’t fire until mid-point of the valve. I’m thinking this thing is gonna rock my winter,,,, means I will be able to spend time with freinds that I haven’t been able to spend (holiday stuff) because I didn’t want to leave the house to get cold overnight. ‘A little more freedom for Dio’ is what it means to me.

But now, everything is turned off, valves closed, and system is ready and waiting for Jack Frost to pay his respects. I probably have a couple more months before things get down into the 40’s overnight, and that is when I start burning wood. (and I say that and Karma is gonna slap me and SEKY with an early cold snap or something,,,, watch, I betcha,,,)

Still one more tank to fill (three actually, I have some 15#’s that need refilled) And on a cool note, had to go somewhere else than my usual place and saved about $30 over what I would have spent. The usual spot was bought out by Ace Hardware, and they are in clearance mode but their propane is shut down until Ace can get it certified (ownership change, gov regs, red tape and more than a little squeeze if I know this area,,,,) Still, didn’t spend a full Benjamin, but it sure took a large chunk of Bens’ ass,,,(and some of mine,,,especially those new gas lines and shut off valve: spent just as much for them as the tank refiill.) And seeing how I am ‘ready’, I can delay getting that other tank filled if need be. Probably won’t, with fuel prices doing the up-down thing, usually UP,,, yeah,,,

It’s siesta for your illustrious, industrious writer now. I’ll load Blue Jean later, when the heat drops off. No need to get her slimed with my sweat right now; just so she can sit on top a hot truck under a carport that is baking in the sun.
