Zero Darks, again
and the rain hasn’t stopped. Not the downpours we were getting last night as I laid me down, but still good enough that I question if work is going to be a thing today.
I’ll be there, I always show unless I don’t; which is usually when I quit for a spell. Ain’t done that this year,,, As for the rest of the guys showing,,, Thats a craps roll every day, and the odds drop as fast as the rain does.
Tha’s the problem with seasonal type works, especially out of doors work. Much the same in yardwork, landscaping, framing and asphalt. Good weather means you’re busting butt, bad weather means you’re sittin’. Great combination for those rainchasers like many white water peeps I know; I can see a few of them last night doing hourly checks on the river gauges and calling around to see who was going where this morning. When I lived in So-Cal, I saw the surfer groups act much the same with certain weather patterns. Storm fronts brought storm surge and that meant bigger waves and more chaos, and that meant FUN!
I like paddling in the rain (so long as my boats don’t take on water, and I think I have that lickd in Lyssa now) Something about the way the water ‘hisses’ as rain falls into it, the pitter-patter of the drops on the deck, the absolute STILLNESS of the world at watersedge: SERENITY writ large in my world. The natural world doesn’t really stop moving with the rain, it just changes gears. You see more animals at waters edge when it rains, so there is something about the call of water that gets all of us in some way. The first time I saw a bobcat mama and her litter of kits was during a drizzle fest paddle session. The little furballs were having an absolute blast tryiing to catch the minnows in the shallows and mama was keeping an extra special eye to that ‘strange looking blue duck’ on the water, but they never ‘teleported’ back into the woods while I watched. That rain was calming, even to them.
Whats the point of this post? Weather happens, and changes constantly. Life goes on as before and as always, and all of that crap that leads us to insanity is the same shit that happened several centuries ago; only the names and places have changed. Take the time to pet the kittehs, smell the flowers, watch the flutter-byes and runny-babbits. Those are more real than what some grift oriented power mongers are doing this week. Keep your powder dry for when those Ass-hats come calling, but till then,,,
FUGGEM!!!!
