Welcome to my brain. It’s messy. It’s interesting. And it’s all connected if you stick around long enough. "Believe Nothing: no matter who said it, even if I have said it, except it agree with your own reason and common sense. Siddhartha Guatamo, the Buddha.

serendipity or cursed

Well, I guess it really doesn’t matter at this point.

Maybe I should take a moment and fill y’all in on what the heck ol Dio is gabbling about.

Fakebook marketplace,,,, I cruise through there on occasion (OFTENer!!!) looking for kayaky deals. Its how I found BlueJean for one,,,

WEllllllsssssss,,,, there was a Necky Chatham 16 listed up for near nothing, and with reason. Poor boat had been involved in a fire at one point and the bow was sorta kinda melted up a bit. From what I can see, it really wasn’t all that bad, IE repairable, BUT, dude decided to try and make the repair with BONDO!!!!! A rotomolded PE boat, repaired with automotive GOOP!!!! I about fell out of my chair laughing my butt off when I saw the pics. Seriously as redneck a repair as you can attempt and NEVER GONNA WORK because the only thing that sticks to PE is PE applied with HEAT,,, The same thing that did the damage to begin with.

Anywhooos,,,, i kept tripping back over the page and thinking,,, Finally, I sent the guy a message, asking if he had the hatch covers for it. (they were not in the pictures and never mentioned in the description, so I kinda assumed they are ‘lost in the void’.,,,)

And suddenly the deal was “If you can come get it, its yours,,, free, we just want it gone.”

Now what the hell am I going to do with a half burned boat that is missing ALL of its hatches???? From a company that was dissolved in 2017?

Well, First off, repairing it is last in line,,, I am going to search around and see if I can find those hatch covers before I commit to repairing this boat PROPERLY. (Get rid of all that stinkin’ bondo, do a real repair with heat and plastic,,,,) If I can’t find those hatches, then I am thinking “Salvage title” sort of thing. The Chatham has a drop down skeg, and all of that hardware is still in place and functional. The Biggest beef I have with BJ is her total lack of and need of a skeg. (Harry Teiken designed the dropdown skeg to compensate for the Sealutions tracking lack. ) Me be thinkin’ that I can take from one to enhance the other,,, BUT, until I know that I can’t bring a boat back to life, I am not making one single cut on either,,,,

So, is the boat cursed? or is there a chance at rebirth here,,,, I guess I am gonna find out,,,,
