doesn’t look so bad there. I had it under pressure for about an hour at that point and the bleeding was under control. But hooo-boy, the state of my shop when I got back. You would think I had slaughtered a pig in there.

Doc in a box and 5 stitches later, and I am not making like a red geyser.

So what happened, you might ask? Well, doing that fabrication I kinda sorta mentioned yesterday, and while doing some grinder work, the grinder kicked a bit and took a nice chomp out of my flesh. Immediate blood flow,,, I was almost scared I had hit a vein, but fact was it was just into the muscle of my thumb with lots and lots of little cappilaries,,,, And I take baby aspirin daily so the blood is ‘thinner’,,,

Poor Doc,, She did good all the way up to grabbing that needle in the forceps: That was when I had to ease her mind. Hand shaking like a leaf on a tree in high winds. So I started cracking jokes, had her help me put on a glove on the right paw, and I was helping her out with the gauze and holding things. By the third stitch she wasn’t shaking so much. This wasn’t my usual APRN I see when I blow a gasket or rupture a hydraulic line: that one knows her way around sutures. This one was younger, and still a little wet behind the ears on ’emergency’ care. That’s all good in my book, she did great, good solid knots, didn’t bunch up the stitch, and did a hell of a job in the debriding. Far better than that ACTUAL DOCTOR that sewed my hand up 5 years ago. There is stuff in that one, and he never did a pin test or check for other damage. This young lady: that was her first order of business before she even started cleaning things up. (soaking my hand in a rinse for 15 minutes or so. that shit STINGS!!!)

I much prefer the Doc in a Box places for things like stitches and general care, much less pinch on my wallet. Not that this round came out of my wallet (it did, but son of bossman reimbursed me.) $150 for everything, including the updated Tetenis shot. Up $85 from the last time (2 years ago???? I think) Just another sign of inflation and the downhill trickle of the HEalthCAreCompleX shenanigans of the last three years.

I really need to keep my blood in my own body though. It doesn’t look pretty at the shop, despite adding some color to a rather dull decor,,,,
