If only it were so easy,,,,,

That’t the Grizz,,, His usual ‘gonna snuggle with Dad’ pose,,,, Butt in my face, upside down in the crook of my arm,,,
He’ll stay like that for hours if I would let him,,,
Not a single care in that kittehs world,,,
Long day today, busted my hump, blew up on Bossman, but with reason. Don’t appreciate being treated the way he was doing this morning,,, I would like to think I have proven my capabilities over the last decade with them, and that I DON’T NEED BABYSAT, but when I am asking questions, its not to be obstinate or insubordinate, its to get the info I need to accomplish the task at hand.
I much prefer NOT doing feild work because at the shop, I am pretty much my own boss, and in many instances (but not all, I do ask about priorities on stuff handed off to me, and sometimes what I am working on gets put aside to handle something that was needed the week prior, but I wasn’t informed,,,,) I decide what, when and HOW, most especially that HOW part,,,, If I think there is needed input, I reach and get it if I can. Like those stakesides on the new flatbed,,, I had an opinion, bossman had an opinion, and Son of Bossman had an opinion and we worked through those and came up with the solution,,,, No belittlement of the guy doing the job, no stomping of foot in a tantrum like a three year old, (and I will ALWAYS return that favor when it happens. I hate that shit and will let it be known RTFN!!)
At least Son of Bossman knows I am like a guided missile: give me a target, and then stay the hell out of my way,,, If I need something, I will either pick it up myself and turn in a reciept or send texts out informing Son of my needs. I provide my own tools for the most part, especially with the powered gates and other detailed installs, and am THE ONLY employee they have, that does. (they do supply the welder, welding gas and other expendables, but the hoods and stuff I use are mine. And they did recently pick up a sweet portable nail gun by Milwaukee for doing the wood fences and a few other high use items like jackhammers and generators, all well abused by the rest of the crew.)(and thats another point,, I usually am the one repairing the stuff the rest of the crew breaks, if it can be repaired. And believe me, I have seen some rather creative destruction from those boys,,,)
apologies,,, I don’t want to dump my problems on y’all,,, I work in a toxic relationship sort of environment, and deal with it as best I can when I have to, even if that means threatening to walk. One of these days, that bluff may get called, (or is it a bluff? Time will tell eh?) I know my value to the company, that they have and are still taking jobs that orbit my abilities and if I weren’t there, they likely wouldn’t touch.
So, that’s all said and done today, and i am gonna sit here and snuggle with a silly cat that likes hanging out upside down on his bestest buddy in the whole wide world,,,

Those toxic work places will take it out of ya, for sure! My last employer looked GREAT, but within the first week I knew I’d made a horrible mistake taking the job, but being raised to believe “a man never quits”, I stuck it out determined to make the best of a bad situation. I left 5 years to the day of my start date; beaten, depressed and physically ill from it all…
My 5 year anniversary is coming up in about 10 days at my new place, and while the work is harder and the load far heavier, my health and overall outlook on life is vastly improved.
On the one hand, I think I never should have stayed in that last gig, on the other it was the connections I made there that got my foot in the door for my current job.
I’m long past religious, but sometimes I can’t help but think there is an “invisible hand” out there, leading us where we need to be, when we need to be there.
And when all else fails, fuzzy four legged love helps keep us in check!
