Random Acts
sometimes, people surprise the ever lovin’ shit out of me.
End of week, payday sort of thing, (lean times, but pay is pay, right?) and I stopped at the store for a couple of items to fill out things for the weekend. Not much, only about $18 worth of stuff.
And the couple that has been in front of me, paid it for me, before i even had a clue what the hell was going on; I even had my Debit card in the machine, ready to pay. Just a random act of kindness in the Christmas spirit, but it completely caught me off-guard: was barely able to mumble out a thankyou I was so flabbergasted.
I dunno how often this happens in other places, but here, I see it frequently, just was never on the receiving end of it before.
Humbled,,,
Thats the best I can explain my feelings right now.

Lean times all around in my little world this week/month. Five days since we last saw sunlight and my battery bank is taking a hit. Not so low as I am worried about damage, but low enough that I busted out the generator and am giving the Lead-pile a quick boost back into an acceptable range. And looking at the Weather-liars pages, I may be doing it again in a couple of days. If we were getting wind along with the gray and drab, I wouldn’t worry about it so much, but its been calm enough that the wind genny is sitting idle, with the occasional drift into the breeze, but no whirly-whirly to make electrons move. And my panels when I came home were showing only 12.3V/0.0A. Not even enough to power the ceiling fan that I leave running 24/7:12vdc RV ceiling fan, It rocks, and if you are thinking about going off-grid, I would suggest looking for that type fan over the shore-powered types that most houses use. Wide open it only pulls .3A, and to get to speed, will get as high as 1 but that drops fast once its running. Most times, I leave it at its lowest speed and it only pulls .1A. Though,,,, When you are getting jack shit for power IN, that adds up over time and WILL deplete your batteries,,, It just takes it a long time to do so. Most of my problem this week, besides the lack of sunlight during the day, is using lighting at night and that does draw a bit more. Shortened days means more usage and less inflow.
More later, gotta run for fuel and kibble,,, Seeing how I forgot both after a certain random act of kindness knocked me for a loop.
