Hella day
Had a helluva good day yesterday. Great food: but most importantly, GREAT PEOPLE. Bruce and I were up into the wee’s talking about too many topics to count, or remember too clearly seeing how both us old paddlers were up until 0230,,,
And I picked up an old Nordic Track machine this morning.
Not for skiing, but to modify it into an ergometer for kayaking.
Been talking about one, off-n-on for a couple years, and making my wobble board really put the itch on me, then last night, Bruce sent me a link to one on marketplace for $20,,, and,,,, aw what the hell, go for broke.
Picked it up this AM and now its sitting here with me looking at it, a pad of paper and pencil in hand and I am working on different configs to see what I want to do BEFORE I start putting blades to wood,,,
Thinking I need something a little more compact than that 9′ long version, and I seem to recall there was one with the mechanism under the legs, not out in dogs country up front. And if I can’t find an image of that one, I am going to come up with something anyways. (Updated: the ‘short’ version is shown in the vid.)
So I have a winter project that is all “kayak-y”, and that makes me happy. Something to keep the paws occupied when the snows start to blowin’, and Simulated Seat Time when the water is calling but not reachable, when said project is complete. (are the ever REALLY completed? Seems I build something like this, then do it again, better, then repeat, again, even better than the last,,,,. ).
I plan on being ready for the race season in spring,
And I think that says something about my confidence; that America is going to weather this shitshow pretty damned good, even if we are a little leaner by end of next year. Not denial: I know things are gonna get tough, tight, and worrisome, but I also think AMERICANS are not going to let it slow them down all that much, and we are going to be doing those things that we like to do and keep flying those FREEDOM BIRDS at the PTwB

1st – really like the kitty!
Know whatcha mean by keeping the paws busy. Meself, I’m a lot better off thataway. Plus I might accidentally accomplish something in between aches and pains. Been working on a raised bed for my veggies lately – no Sir, not any old raised bed, but one on legs! No bending thataway – way too hard on bad body parts that no longer work as advertised – unfortunately, they’re also outta warranty😲!
I have just enuff optimism to think we can do this, as you do. Lord knows I could really stand to lose a couple dozen pounds – but I’d much rather do it intentionally instead of forcefully. I don’t do forcefully all that well. As I’ve stated before, if anybody can pull it off us AMERICANS sure as hell can!
As to yer rhetorical question about whether a project is ever completed? As an Olde Phartt Gearhead (plus amatuer ‘smith, & DIY ‘puter builder), I can tell ya they’re most definitely NOT!! Dam entertaining, though😁 Usually, anyway.
Y’all take care,
Mike.
