Welcome to my brain. It’s messy. It’s interesting. And it’s all connected if you stick around long enough. "Believe Nothing: no matter who said it, even if I have said it, except it agree with your own reason and common sense. Siddhartha Guatamo, the Buddha.

witches teats, November, nuff said,,,

This morning sucked big green greasy donkey d!@ks,,,,

It was 20 flippin’ degrees out and that didn’t improve much until around noon.  High of 50 and that felt flat balmy after the cold start of the AM.    Took forever to get my self moving at the J.O.B.   Even Skitty was all puffed out looking 3 times her normal size, and was more than happy to “brave the evil winds” that the Torpedo heater puts out to get some of that warmth,,,

Hatez winters,,,,   Seem to remember there was a time when I loved this time of year, but as the years pass, and the aches and pains get more prominent,

no, don’t like the cold.   Thumbs are the troublesome parts today.  To many old hand injuries piled up over time and the thumbs always seemed to get twisted or bent weird,,,,   Hell, you can see the ‘busted knuckles’ aspect of my life when I am paddling in summer.  The old scar tissue turns white where the rest of my hands are tanned.   Theres a lot of scar tissue there too,,,

And tomorrow threatens to be a repeat of today,,, with much the same pattern of warming by afternoon,,,    Lord there are days where I wish that shop would burn to the ground so we could build new, with INSULATED WALLS,,,   Nopes, just an old pole barn with the insulation quality of sheet metal and the wind blocking ability of a sieve: Bake in the summer, freeze in the winter.   The bake part I am ok with, just turn on a big fan and get some air moving, and I am fine,,,   Heat is a discomfort, cold is PAIN,,,

*sigh*.

At least I know what I WON’T build when I get around to building my own,,,

Me brain has been percolatiin’ an idea all day.  Don’t like the FakeBook, but for getting groups together, sometimes, its the best route (and what it was originally designed for and somehow became a “this is what we ate, and this is the crap I took afterwards’ kind of social media.   AND why I really have no use for it in most instances.).  Still percolating the thought, and may not run with it, but then again, I might.  Really want other to paddle with and I know of three other longboaters that paddle Laurel Lake, but we don’t run in the same circles, and I can never find their contact info.   (I sold my feathercraft to one of them, and I know she is still in the area since the last time I was at Laurel, someone asked if we were friends and described “Beast” perfectly (and Abigail, but the boat was the clincher.))

My biggest drive for paddling, WHILE paddling I should specify, is distance, not these short shore hugging runs that I have been doing, but long open water runs using the compass, not landmarks, to hold heading.    I want to get used to that aspect (among several others, that are longboat specific,,,). I pulled up a chart on Laurel, and plotted out several points I want to hit, using compass headings, not landmarks.  Now the shores are close enough that landmarks can be used, off sides, not always straight ahead,  (later, after I get more intune to the process, I want to hit Cumberland Lake where you can’t always see a shoreline.  OR, Lake Marion where my Sis lives, where it looks like you are on the ocean at times: ‘what shoreline?’

I’m Jonesing for a paddle fix.   Shoulda bit the bullet and gone anyways this weekend, but,,,

excuses, excuses, excuses,,,,    Shit like that eats away at the one thing I don’t have much of, and that I can never get back: TIME.

And to say that this daylight savings crap isn’t helping,,,   was getting dark as I was driving home tonight and I was looking at the river, seriously contemplating putting  BJ in,,,   Except the sun was almost behind the ridge-line and it gets dark FAST, and the temps drop almost as fast.

excuses, excuses, excuses,,,,

shush, you!!!!

supposed to be a bit warmer tomorrow, and I will wear stuff under my work garb so I can make the shift over quick-like.  I want some seat time, (and an upcoming 4 day weekend,,,,   hmmmm,,,,,)
