gahnasty day out
lets just say that nothin’ much happened today.
Due to low light levels, I didn’t want to run the Mac too much, and I wasn’t doing any phone surfin’ just-cuz,,, And my solar panels never went above 12.3v, so not much if any charging from that source today. Did get some wind so I ain’t hurtin, but I gotta watch my usage this time of year.
Kept the home fires burning, and Kittehs were sprawled everywhere in the house, Voo looking out and whining cuz he didn’t want to brave the cold unless hydraulic pressures were at explosive levels. Temps went way below that mid four oh they called for. Its heading into dusk now and the temps are mid thirties: gonna get quite a bit colder yet as the clouds are rolling out. No atmospheric blanket to keep things steady.
BUT, I did play with kayaks a bit, but not on the water, much as I desired to: that cold kept me home. I did play with loading Blue Jean with camp gear though, looking for balance and best load out. She holds so much more gear than Lizzy does and is a full foot shorter and same width. I don’t get it, but hey, I’ll take it. She is perfect for solo camping seeing how she is the most stable boat I have ever owned. Solo because she is not the fastest, and I struggle to keep up with others while paddling her. BUT she will hold everything I need, plus. I can use Lizzy for group kayakamping since she is fast enough to keep up, holds what I need and food can be distributed amongst the other paddlers as needed. She will hold some, so long as I choose one shelter over the other: Tent or hammock, but not both. (I like having the choice, but if it comes down to choosing, the tent is the way to go because it will also protect the rest of the gear without having to reload the boat.)
And oh-boy, that itch to go kamping,,, Its not deep winter yet and I am getting cabin fever. and yeah, me and some others do winter kamping,,, I told ya we were all just a bit NUTZ,,,, LOL. Kinda like paddling in snow fall. I dig on that even though its a rare event around here (snow that is,,). I was watching some Utoob vid the other day and the guy was scraping on little bergs where he was paddling, Won’t ever see that here but it looked like fun. That and all the seals he was seeing. (made me miss La Jolla CA,,, Seal rock was always so cool.)
Anywhoos,,,, I am considering loading Bluejean onto the racks and parking Lizzy for a spell. I may just take a couple days next weekend and go get the itch scratched. Cold or not, rain or dry, (or even snowing) I need some space to pull out my soul and examine it a bit: its feeling worn and torn lately. As secluded as I am here at the house, you would think I could do so here, but there are always distractions: neighbors asking favors, Da checking in on me, or just Grizz or Mama getting in my face when I least expect it.
