Grrr, blogger ills

I was using the online dashboard of WordPress to tap out a post earlier.   Had it just about ready to hit the ‘publish’ button and noted that it was in “autosave” and the buttons were greyed out; no access to the save functions or publish functions.    No biggie, right?  Just hit refresh and alls good, its auto saved, right?

Shit no!!!

Gonna give it a rough guess of a 1000 words and all that was saved was the title and the first sentence.

I don’t normally use the online write feature for just this reason.  (among many others, one of which Mike at Cold Fury would easily equate with: Block Editors. Hisssss growl YOWL!!!!   Hatez the BLockeditor,,,).  What I do use, 99 outta 100, is MarsEdit, an app in the Apple Store.  Duh, I use a Mac, so of course it came from there.  Dunno if there is a similar app/program for WinDOHzz or not; I would suspect so, but don’t know.  ( and I haven’t fired up my win-pc in MONTHS,,,  Not even sure it will fire up,,,,)

So, I had a post all ready to go, and those words are now somewhere in the aethernet, circling but never able to land.   I tried a couple of recovery options, but alas, GONE.   And I can’t blame anything but my own dumb click-happy self. (and local cell coverage being spotty as hell.  Thats why the auto save was ‘hit or miss’.). Some of ya might even ask, “Why don’t you have full internet service Dio?”  LOCATION LOCATION LOCATION.   As in, my location is SHITTE and if I want cable service out here or even Fiber service out here, I have to pay for the installation of the poles and wire/trench and fiber to my place from the nearest “Node”.   When I checked at ASSpectrum, (a year ago, and the closet node to me) it was going to run over $3500 for the install, in addition I would be paying the usual monthly rates.   No discount or special offer to help build their infrastructure.   Talk about getting fucked without a kiss or a reach around,,,,, (note: that ‘node’ is only 200 yards down hill from my house.  Da has spectrum cable, but to get it up the hill to my place requires permits and poles and cutting trees and, and, and,   )

Thats ok though,  I don’t plan on being here forever, and while I haven’t a solid ‘escape’ plan as yet, there is one in the works. I want to get away from this area almost as bad as I wanted out of SINcinnati,   Don’t miss that place one Iota, but I do miss ‘Convenience’, ie, not needing to drive half a day to get to ‘things’.   There are advantages to being this far out, but I am sure BCE could describe some of my neighbors with colorful language, having never met them, and yet be spot on.  That is NOT an advantage, let me tell you.  (and as I told someone recently, if ROL goes buh-bye, there are some that are short term for this world.  I won’t hesitate a moment to alleviate potential ‘issues’. No names mentioned, no threats, just a statement that things would be different if we go all MadMax,,,)

Anywhooos, what I was writing is gone even from my brain now.   I could probably come up with a simulacrum of it, but it wouldn’t ‘feel’ the same to me and that just rubs me the wrong way.   And maybe this is universes way of saying “NO need, you’re preaching to the choir,,,,”. *sigh*.   thats good enough reason for me to do most all of my writing ‘Offline’ and not depend on some cloud service for my backups (which IS what was going on with WordPress,,,,).
