another move in.
Dammit!, I dropped a phone. The one time I have it out of its case (I spilled a ccca-cola on it) I drop the daggum thing and it bounced off a concrete floor. Didn’t see nuttin’ wrong, but sure as crud, you know I did the poor beasty in, in some way.
Yup, small crack across the bottom of the screen, but that wasn’t the main issue (could have been if I used he fingerprint function as my password, but have you ever seen a guy that uses his hands for a living that didn’t have ‘walking fingerprints’ from all the little cuts and scrapes fingers take?). Nope, the real problem was the USB connection at the bottom. Suddenly it kept showing ‘trying to connect to usb device’, and as for charging,,, Nuh-uh!
sigh
Another two Franklins out for the next model up (that model was canceled last year: gotta love that whole planned obsolesce marketing thingy.) And I had to drop another $20 on a new case as they changed the housing just enough that the old case wouldn’t work.
Damn! where’d that paycheck get to? At least this case is honest to Dog water proof and I don’t have to have a ‘drybag’ for the phone while kayaking anymore. (just make sure to leash it to the kayak so it doesn’t go for an unplanned swim to the bottom.)
There are days where I almost wish we were back to the wall telephone with the 40′ slinky cord, and NO APPS or all the other stuff we have started taking for granted with modern ‘smart phones’. Almost,,,,
I do like having the convenience of what amounts to a desktop computer in a package smaller than the science calculator I owned in HighSkool. Just don’t like how manipulated the whole platform has become with marketing and surveillance crap.
and I kinda miss the solitude we had when the phone was nailed to the wall like back in my younger days. And there are more times than not where I will leave the phone in the truck while I go off and do stuff. I have even left the obnoxious little sneak at home so that it wasn’t recording my traveling around. Wouldn’t be so bad if there were a way you could turn off certain features and KNOW they were actually disabled: I don’t trust the tech companies to be honest about shit like location services or stuff like that. And its much easier to just leave the damned thing behind or lock it in a metal box so it can’t send or receive.
I can say though, the tech people have made moving into your new phone MUCH much easier. IT only took about 30 minutes to transmit info from one to the other and I only had to re-install two apps that didn’t translate well. Even my Hotspot info stayed the same and I didn’t have to change my connection information to use the Mac.
Alright, nuff whining about phone and showing my age to y’all. (yah, I’m old, and feel it some days.)
SO’sssss; How about that FRAUD? Ya think the actual oxygen breathers that voted for that turd are starting to have some buyers remorse? Damn I sure as shit hope so. It may only be a couple thousand peeps with a body temperature near 98.6F: we know that the majority were either entirely fictitious or well below ambient as they reside 6′ under. But those that did,,,, Gotta suck realizing that you are culpable to the mess of the world we now reside in.
And its not like the FRAUD is anywhere near competent. Two mass shooters in less than a month and the only way one of them was able to accumulate so much damage was by the cops standing down. And both taken out by a Citizen or off duty Sheepdawg. Professor Raul X must be seething that his mentored ‘bots are so inept.
There are so many examples of how bad this Admin is, that I can only wonder how long it will be before the collapse is far enough along that we can start counting coup. If Brandon (or his handlers more likely) had half a brain, they would be removing all trees and lamp posts from the DC metro area. Won’t stop the ‘solution’, but it would make it so they aren’t ‘hangin’ round’ stinking the place up. (I say that, but who’s to say if it gets that far, that the Gallows won’t be a corner feature in front of every Starcucks catpiss vendor.)
Moar laters,,,,

I have been sans cell phone for almost 10yrs. Between doing away with TV 20yrs ago and the cell phone I don’t know which is the greater contributor to mental health and well being. I know being without a cell is not possible for everyone (96% of Americans have a smart phone) it is a huge positive if you can pull it off.

I dropped the Toob 14 years ago, and it helped my mental state in huge ways. I went back to school, but on my terms and without going to one of those carnal houses of socialism. I started reading more on the nets, investing in equipment to muck around with, like an engine lathe I had no clue how to use, and went to town on things.
As for the smart phone, Yah, I hate it and love it all at the same time, but its THE link I use for the rest of the world, and allows me to be mobile without complete lifestyle changes. I am able to maintain the same bank (credit union) I have had since 1999 even though I am a state away. That may not seem like a big deal, but when you have the ability to walk into a place and get a signature loan, same day, simply due to the longevity of your account, it does make a huge impact. Granted, distance makes being able to do that a touch problematic, but if the need arose, I could do it. (and I am loyal as all get out to that Credit union ever since 2004 when I was on Tour, and the CSEA tried to freeze my accounts. One of the bankers called me, explained what was going on, and wired me all but $5 out of my account so there was nothing to freeze. I was in Houston Texas at the time. That wouldn’t have happened if I hadn’t had a cellphone, so I guess you could say that I have loyalties to both due to that event.)
