Collies playing in the melons

I saw that pic over at Irish’s place late yesterday and wished I had seen it while I was typing up the Dinosaurs post. Chances are, if you aren’t fifty or older, or didn’t grow up in suburbia or rural, you will have zero clue what those things are. I saw them and the memories came flooding back like a tsunami. Memories of warm summer nights racing to get home as night was fast overtaking us. The buzz of that dyno as it used the side of your bike tire to power that lamp to light your way. Watching the street lights come on and knowing if you didn’t get home soon, someone was gonna tar your ass.

Good times. No helmets. No shin guards. You rolled your right pants leg up to keep it out of the chain since you and your buddy had pulled off the chain guard and couldn’t figure out how to get it back on. That is, if you weren’t in shorts, barefoot and looking like some barbarian child under all the muck and grit you accumulated that day.

I don’t live in suburbia anymore. Heck, when I did, we lived as far out on the edge of it as you could get without being in farm country. Went back there a couple of times over the last decade and ripped my heart out every time. The woods I would spend DAYS in are almost gone. The ‘Gentlemans Farm’ up the road from us,,,, The main house with its circle driveway are still there, but all the fields are now under houses and asphalt drives. The Cedar grove that was there was cut and buried in place. There are Likely 150 homes in that spot now. And the new High School took all the fields on the other side of the main road.

I tell people all the time. In fact I just said this last week to a friend (the guy that sold me this Mac) “you can never go home. it isn’t there anymore.” The Territory may look similar, but the map in your head and reality are not the same anymore. My sister has seen it more than a few times as well. She just sold her home in the SinSin-nati area not to many years back, but before she had even left the area, the house she sold had gone through so much change, the whole neighborhood looked different.

We move through life like leaves on the wind. Where we were is no longer, we have to make do with where we are, and try to steer for where we wish to be.

Shits blowing up around the world if you are watching any feeds OTHER THAN Enemedia. My phone has been beeping and trilling about every 15 minutes since about midnight. Saw images from France of some protestor being carted off with a severely broken leg. You know its broken when you can see the shin flexing around as the foot dangles like dead weight.

wanna know something good? I do, so I’ll share a little of it, even though it changes nothing in current events. The EEleets are rock stupid. They learn nothing and see no reason to learn because they are already so damned smart, they don’t need to learn anything. They hear everyday how smart they are; they can’t hear anything else since they live in echo-chambers of their own making. And that is to our advantage. It won’t change the course of things one iota; shits getting bloody and is VERY likely to get even more so. And no-one has a clue how far down the rabbit hole we have to fall before we can grab a root and start climbing back out.

For every protestor seen with shattered legs, or disfigured faces from a baton beating, more of us will get angry and ‘join the party’. Just like in Vietnam, Afghanistan, Kuwait and all the other little shit-holes our military has tried to ‘civilize’, you hurt one, the other side recruits three. The EEleet have been witness to this off n on for over fifty flipping years, and they still can’t make 2+2=4.

Because they know better, and people should listen and obey.

At least that is the stance that I see continually, and yet it never quite hits the reality of things. Sure, those ideas look good on paper, sometimes, but for the most all cases, they don’t fit HUMANS. Automatons maybe, but not the Human species, whose M.O. is more closely aligned to CAT than any other species.

Things are bound to get MUCH uglier yet. Americans are just now getting into this convoy fun, and OUR Government is much more ruthless (though no less inept as others, maybe more so with puddin’head Joe at top.). BUT, there is one aspect where we WILL differ from places like France, Canada, OZ, and The Kiwis:

we still have our guns.
