Welcome to my brain. It’s messy. It’s interesting. And it’s all connected if you stick around long enough. "Believe Nothing: no matter who said it, even if I have said it, except it agree with your own reason and common sense. Siddhartha Guatamo, the Buddha.

Easy wknd,

Little updatee on my ‘rebuild old kayak’ project. (or should I use the proper term ‘qajaq’ since she IS old school in practice and form? )

Outer form still needs added, both upper and lower (partly done, as I was seeing what I needed to do to make it work)  the fillets and sealing, and it will be ready to take resin and glass.  Naw, it ain’t ‘purty’ , since most all of it is from scrap peices cut to shape, like a big ol’jigsaw puzzle.  Lots of gaps that will be filled with Dookieschmutz (love that term, HT to Nick Schade at Guillemot kayaks.) Then smoothed over as I do the rest of the shaping and filleting.

Probably another week before I am ready to lay the glass. As long as the weather holds. A cold snap will slow me up. My open air shop (called a porch in normal times) is kinda hard to keep climate controls on.

I’m also working on a new Masik (deck beam at coamings forward lip) since I will be moving the cockpit forward 3″. Lots of little changes but they all add up to a better performing qajaq. As Serena sits right now, she would be perfectly happy on the Okisollo tidal race: she would be. Me? Not so much. LOL.

She is too long for running WW here’bouts, but works good for lakes and wider rivers. Unfortunately her hull is shaped for wild shit I just don’t see. Time to fix that as I have expressed here in a few posts. Better to fix than build completely new , and I can make her a bit more flexible so others can enjoy her.

I needed a day doung something completely kayaky in nature, even if I didn’t get water time in. 🙃
