Claire Wolf has been posting a lot lately about ‘whats next’ and ‘tween now n then’.
I keep coming back to Heinlein’s “The Moon is a Harsh Mistress” and his descriptions of how the society on the moon functioned. If you have not read it, you are missing an incredible fountain of information.
Right now, we are in the eye of the storm, becalmed for a short spell. The winds and turmoil has receded but we still have the storm surge beneath our feet and in our lands. Soon, the winds are going to reverse direction and what was hell before is going to resume and get worse. BUT, is that reversal of winds going to be the cleansing winds or resurgence of the chaos of a broken empire flailing its last.
Look at Heinlein, TMisHM, Freemarket enterprises, Entrepreneurial spirit over BIG GOV, Armed and PEACEFUL societies where respect is coin of the realm. Read Micheal Williamson’s Freehold.
There is a future for us and our children and grandchildren, but we MUST work for it, not farm this out for others to build their version of it. If we allow ‘them’ to build our world for us, we get what we have now, and a possible future in a large ditch in the middle of nowhere, without name or memory.
