Welcome to my brain. It’s messy. It’s interesting. And it’s all connected if you stick around long enough. "Believe Nothing: no matter who said it, even if I have said it, except it agree with your own reason and common sense. Siddhartha Guatamo, the Buddha.

Things I’ve learned

With the passing of my mother, the recent trials of almost losing my Da, I would like to pass along to the living, things that may be of use to yours when you are no longer with them.

The big one applies if you have an online presence.   The problem we ran into with my mothers things was passwords.  I know, I know, ya don’t write passwords down: first order of security.  But if you are close to end of life, your survivors may(will) need to access those things to suspend or terminate things, and getting around the password without knowing it will lead to all sorts of problems. (We will need to speak to the account holder to terminate this account.   Well ma’am, since shes deceased, its rather difficult for her to hold this conversation and that is why we are trying to terminate the account.  Without speaking to the account holder we cannot just,,,,    around and around the wheel we go,,,)

But do keep a small note pad where you have passwords and keep it in a secure place.  It helps too, since at age, we all start to slip the cams a wee bit,,,  I have accounts I may only access once a year, and those are the ones where I need a memory assist.

In my Da’s case, a couple PINs are all we need because he has no online presence beyond the words I write about him.

Write em down, keep em in one place, secure from prying eyes,  and DO let whomever will handle the paperwork side of things know where they are.  You never ever know when the call will come, and doing this will make the transition for those not called so much less stressful.

Consider also, that someone will need to have the authority to represent you in certain cases.  PoA’s to transfer property, deal with banking and other such.  You may not have much, (my mother didn’t) but dealing with these things, after the fact, is a nightmare if plans weren’t made prior.

Bizzy now,, more later
