Spoils of war
Still waiting for Da to get out of ER, have talked with him, just oodles of tests ‘to make sure’,,, huge breath of air,,,,
While waiting wandered over to BCs place and did some information hopping. Even left comment (a rarity for mes)
Thats called the ‘spoils of war’ my friends. And looking at that list, theres several billion dollars with a couple extra hundreds units tacked on in raw “TAX REVENUES” of gear just given to an enemy because some ‘leadership’ chose shit n skeedaddle over an organized retreat. At least when the Ruskkies did this back in the 80s, the last man across the bridge was the last commanding officer of that particular goat rope. And he was riding the last of the functional gear. They destroyed what they couldn’t carry and what was left was party favors compared to the brigades worth of toys we left sitting, waiting for new ownership. Did no one think a series of WP grenades (cheap toys, compared to what we just gave up) and a pull string would slag things, especially those Intel Birds, christ jesus, who-EVER made the call to leave that stuff sitting needs strung up for ‘collaboration with foriegn powers’ cuz just like BC said, ya have 18 versions of that toy, how hard would it be to reverse engineer a pair of ’em and develop counter methods from that knowledge. A whole slew of our stuff just became obsolete and useless, so the actual costs is 10X (or more) greater than just the cost of the birds and gear.
Doom whistle. Sorry, posting this but just got word my dad downturned hard and fast. Back as can be

Sorry about your Paw and the stresses that go with that. Hope circumstances allow for the best of the possible outcomes for all of you.

I can’t seem to get the thought out of my head that the withdrawal wasn’t all poorly executed by accident or just incompetence. It should be pretty basic stuff to take or destroy your gear in this kind of scenerio. How do you stay for that long fighting a war and not be able to get out orderly? Been blowing stuff up there for years, cant hit our own stuff? Was this just a gift through a third party or what? Who gave orders to not do what every private on up that graduated basic knows? Cripes, you don’t even leave a rifle without making it non functional.
From what I’ve heard the people are not that trainable and I kinda doubt keeping aircraft going is gonna be something they can do. All these years and they couldn’t even put up minimal resistance to take their own country over. Are the ones that overrun them that much smarter,…I mean same DNA and culture pretty much ain’t they?
I’m an old Huey mechanic and when I was in they were supposed to be going away but the Black hawks weren’t quite up to speed yet and I remained on Hueys through my short 4 years. Neither one likes to be parked. Fly em or the gremlins slowly take em. They will need to be used and maintained to be much use. Guessing we are going to see how they do under less stringent airworthiness criteria. I am sure other countries would love to have any of our aircraft….. think what we left was a huge pile of trading stock.

‘Think what we left as trading stock ‘ And I would bet that is exavtly what Taliboy leaders have on mind. Keep the small arms and mobile arty and launder off the rest (well maybe keep the Hummers, sonce they are up armored. ) they’ve seen how a large portion of the rest is more liability for forces without 75% support structure, which the Taliban don’t have.
Still, instant funding for the Tali, and some Mercgroups are gonna get a hella deal on new toys.
