Welcome to my brain. It’s messy. It’s interesting. And it’s all connected if you stick around long enough. "Believe Nothing: no matter who said it, even if I have said it, except it agree with your own reason and common sense. Siddhartha Guatamo, the Buddha.

10k

How many readers here tap out 10000 words a day?

How many read that many words a day?

What about double that number? Or triple it?

I’m not bragging on myself. But that was todays numbers(not including my blog posts). I’m not bragging on myself because that’s a below average number for me. I usually tap out 20k+: the majority of which get saved to backwater “file off the serial numbers and change the name” files for later consideration. (I’m much better about hitting save and not delete these days.) Some of what I tap out, such as the 10k I hammered today, have a potential to grow, not just in length, buy in detail. The 12 pages I hammered out (while Grizzy napped) will blossom when I get to the edit stage: details and emotions expanded on, AND I wrote that ‘at speed’ because the idea was fresh and I had a window. And of course there will be some cutting out of parts as I find they ‘don’t quite fit’; those will go to the “file off serial numbers” files for recycling later. Rough wordings may become another three or four sentences to clarify and smooth out the structure. 10000 words may grow to 25000. (Note, I don’t keep track of the numbers as a goal, but as a meter for production. Some days that number is a whole lot closer to zero and those are the days where I am trying to bring in the cash so I CAN keep writing,,,)

My book in the side bar was around 120k or so, (I dont recall the actual number ) so even there, physically writing a book will take some time what with edits, proof readers, more edits, compliling, more edits,,,,. I would imagine authors like Sarah Hoyt hammer out much closer to 100000 words a day, and thats NOT including her blog posts and other functions around the webs.

Now if I could convince Grizz,( a 3 month old kitten? good luck with that) that my fingers tapping around a keyboard ARE NOT TOYS,,,,
