Middlin’ to naught
Typical situation on a SCORCHER of a Sunday.
Four feets of both stripes and splotches sprawled wherever they can find a cool surface. Even the bugs are taking siesta this early eve.
Thought about going kayaking, but watching all cash flow, including fuel usage right now. The last couple weeks have hit deep and hard. Not complaining: I made a choice now live with it. Did have an instance of “maybe I should go back,,,” then took a nap. Waking from that nap I saw bossmans face as I ‘came back to work ‘,,, immediate response as I came to was “awfuckNO!!”. They need me, they ask. Till then, I’ll figure it out on me own.
As for the rest of the world,,,, walked into local shop up road. They had Faux news playing. Watching the helos pullking peeps off the roof of the embassy in Kabul,,, 1975 comes back to haunt.
And I won’t lay this all in Xi-dens lap. Hell that poor excuse of a gentic trace can only fill his depends with any confidence. Nope, there were the other CiCs in front of him and all three (3!!!) are almost as guilty, but the real blame lay in Congress and the Generals. Why Congress? Because Congress approves Command rank, and the asshats that sport stars were all hand picked for their asskissing, not their tactical prowess. The Commander on Chief has to work with the tools he is given and the tools since 1945 have gradually gone down hill at a steady pace. You may recall a certain ‘Stormin’ Norman, back in 91. Note how he didn’t so much as fade as flat disappear, to be replaced by something more palatable to the Congress critters and appease that whole white privilege thing (before it was a ‘thing’) What saddens me about that was how Maddog was such a force of power that went bad after he came into the light of congressional approvals. As a Colonel he was a source of serious pride in Uncle Sams Misguided Children. Then he made Brigadier and began to learn the finer points of sucking political cocks. And of stabbing his commander in chief in the back apparently. One wonders just what dirt the deepstate had on that man.
I had just turned 7 when we hauled ass out of Vietnam. I now have friends who were there, much longer in tooth but still fire breathing snake eaters with tons of knowledge they desperately want to share, but find the climate not so friendly to learning. I recall seeing the flight crew of a helo landing on the Tarawa (which I proudly sailed to Kuwait on) and all hands taking that bird and shoving her over the side to clear room for the next wave of birds coming in. Tons and tons of perfectly functional gear, abandoned for expediance in a situation that never should have came to be.
46 fuckin years and another 20 year debacle of stoopid comes to an end, same as the last. People fleeing for their lives, equipment abandoned in place, and another country left in shreds to rebuild, while the pentagon brass and industrial complex CEOs sleep with well padded bank accounts.
But ya know what? They aren’t able to play it the same way this round. Recall I said there are firebreathing snake eaters around still? They’re talking to each other, and to others that’ll listen. This isn’t just gonna get swept under a rug like Nam did. (And at least this time McCain isn’t abandoning 10000 POWs either. Good riddance and may that flaming labial scab rot in hell.)
But its just another slather of Shit icing on a crap cake at this point. I watch all of this and see a dying nation (dead actually, just moving under momentum.) There are people out here that remember what this nation was like, and not all that long ago. We have kept names of those at the levers of power who have made the changes that killed what we love. We see them still yanking and pulling on those levers and we wait.
When the lids pops, what happens next will be a devils brew of hell that has been fermenting for a very long time. Pandoras box unchained,,,,

Can’t disagree with most of this. Except I fail to understand how you can prefer that lying sack of shit con man’s word. Over that of Mad Dogs , and most all of the other generals appraisal of that POS failed POTUS.
YEAH McCain might have somewhat let us former brothers of the suck , down.
Yet he served ,and didn’t claim bone spurs…
The past twenty years was all about the MIC and the good ol boy contractors.
Whole lot of sucking off the tax payers tit right there. Had plenty of my old buds try talking me into joining in the fun. Funny thing is , I developed a conscious and more morals since those days forty some odd years ago. The money might have been good but I woulda had to look in the mirror.

I saw Maddog IRL in the 90s. The man I saw IRL was not the man I saw in the twenty-teens. Actions and deeds differed.
I drop it there, no need to open old wounds

James Mattis knew who Trump was, and joined him anyway, because he is a patriot. And because he is a patriot, he would have remained with Trump if he thought he could influence Trump’s policies. But whatever influence he had, he lost.. Therefore as a matter of honor and his eternal oath to the Constitution he bowed out.
