I get it, I do

But dammit, Its a frickin pain.

The ‘It’ I’m probing is “cloud based” whatevers. And I’m not going into the whole ‘Internet of Things’ stuff. Nope, just talking about cloud based programming.

I have two programs that are specifically cloud based and if you are in a wifi deadzone, ‘sorry’bout your luck pal’, those programs are dead icons on phone or lappy. The one on the laptop I can fully understand as it is quite complicated with massive databases needed in support. It has a subscription plan to support the server farm it uses for full functionality. FYI; that program is called ProWritingAid. Its what I use as a Pre-editor. It even has a Plagerism detector (and believe it or not, there are ‘accidental’ incidents of plagerism. ) and that function absolutly requires net access since there is no way in hell a laptop could hold the entire world line of printed material.

But the one that bugs me is the one on my phone. Its a damned GAME. Its not like an MMORPG, where you are playing against others. Its a fitness app where you are playing a game, BY YOURSELF. Why the hell does that need full net access to function.

Because they are profiling you for advertising,,,,

And that sucks because when it first came out, it wasnt cloud based, it was awesome, and I was using it daily. Now, I get so frustrated with getting it to work (network access here can be VERY spotty) that I just pissoff and do something else. That something else is usually sitting and playing with katz. And while I could do something else, fitness wise, that game made it enjoyable, whereas it usually feels like a chore. And I HATEZ chores.

I do ’em, but I don’t likes ’em. And I KNOW I’m not alone in that regard.

Its funny though, writing is NOT a chore to me. I can sit at a laptop or phone and go to town tapping away for houts and not feel tired. When I get into editing is where it starts to feel like work (and is) but I do it because the first half was so easy for me. (And that editing thing is why it took so long for me to start writing more.)

And the dad arrives

Sorry, shift in items, but related. I’ve been contemplating (in serious fashion) moving to South Carolina. And one thing keeps coming to the forefront. Solitude. Getting distractions kills my writing more than I do. Be it a kitten demanding a shoulder to nap on (where Grizz is right now) or my Dad checking up on his useless wastrel unemployed laze-a-bout son,,,, (he hasnt said it, but I can tell he’s been thinking it),,,, I really want somewhere where I can go, close the door and everyone knows when I am there, to leave me the fuck alone. Prolly not the safest means to an end because if something did happen, It would be awhile before anyone chose to check up on me, but that desire for absolute solitude gets overwhelming at times.

I dunno, S Carolina has a better ‘feel’ to than here, and salt air vs moldy smelling mountain air,,,

Or, like I told my sis last week; the desert keeps calling to me. I miss the high desert of SoCal or low desert of Arizona.

Yeh, I get that way,,,

Especially when I am procrastinating on doing something I should be, or have an idea percolating into my brain.

So, I need to spend 5 minutes planking (and the program still isn’t functional, grrr) need to pull the broken blade off my mower and get a replacement (I’ve told ya, my yard grows rocks faster than it does grass. And they’re sneaky!!! Found one yesterday and it brought the whole day to a screeching halt) and yet, here I am, still tap-tap-tapping away on a keyboard,,,,😇😇😇
