Been awhile: apologies are in order,
BUT,,,
I haven’t been idle. Just a lot of personal crap that tends to get in the way of tending to a blog and other not so vital areas.
Long story shortened, around T-day, I ended up in the ER looking like a greedy chipmunk. Face all swollen up from a bacterial infection that had managed to get under a cap and into my gumline. High powered antibiotics and a scrip, and a promise to make a dentist appointment. And I did, for a week out so that the infection was under control when she (I have a female dentist, and trust me; you do NOT want to arm wrestle the woman. She’ll whomp on ya!) started poking and probing in my oral cavity.
News, as if it were really news, is that she felt her efforts would be wasted trying to save my remaining teeth as they were severly impacted (I knew this already, but not that she would condem them.) Options? Dentures or implants? Money: reasonable to ‘OMG, I need to indenture my granbehbies!’ (NOT gonna happen!) Option 3 was do the dentures now and later assess the implant option.
I’m with option three. 24 extractions and temporary arches in place and relearning purt’much everything. Like talking, eating, sleeping. “S” sounds are the worst: way to much sibyllence and enunciation seems to me to be lacking, even though others say I’m speaking fine.
Once all the healing is done and I have my permanent arches, I’m going to start really entertaining that whole implant thing. Prostheses of any sort SUCK! They may fill the bill but there are always more compromises than ‘original equipment’ had.
Anywhoos, its Christmas tide, the first day of winter solstice, and life just keeps rolling on.
Thats my update and my apologies to all the readers out there for the serious lack of posts of late. Hope y’all understand.
Merry Christmas, heres hoping your new years goes well.

As a knowing person informed me, right after receiving my dentures. ” You’ll be happy with them in a couple years” ! I was, and still am.
Tho I must pass along , what I feel to be good advice. Don’t over estimate their ability to crush hard things like ice and hard candies… it’ll be expensive if ya do.
