Welcome to my brain. It’s messy. It’s interesting. And it’s all connected if you stick around long enough. "Believe Nothing: no matter who said it, even if I have said it, except it agree with your own reason and common sense. Siddhartha Guatamo, the Buddha.

Bummed

Took the Duh!k out today onto the river to start working up to the race day. Shoulder is a tad stiff again and I feel it. Lots of damage in there from years of abuse and more than a couple times dislocated.

But thats not the bummer. While out, I met a couple of ‘yakers out doing the fish thing and a in short conversation was told the race has been” rescheduled for April of next year!” ” No!”

Yup, came off the water, went and found a local fishwrapper and sho’nuff, there it was, a notice that things are rescheduled. No solid reason, but a mention its to attract more people. I can see that in one sense, its after the winter months and people want out to get over cabin fever, but the downside is that the river gets psychotic in the spring months. Up down and sideways and you never really know week to week what she’ll do. This past April was mostly flood stage and while the water speed can be fun, the occasional wild tree headed downstream; not so much. Its not the ones on the surface that scare me. Its the ones that hide deep, then cartwheel to the surface that scare me.

I may skip it this year if thats the way of it. Gonna have to find a different one, or maybe start one of my own.

And I am thinking I may build another yak this year. Slightly wider in beam, and with a more gradual keel line at the bow. Duh!k’s like to grab debris and get splashy. It won’t be as sporty but hey, its fun designing them, then building it, and testing. Brian wasn’t kidding when he told me that the first one was going to be the road to more.
