Welcome to my brain. It’s messy. It’s interesting. And it’s all connected if you stick around long enough. "Believe Nothing: no matter who said it, even if I have said it, except it agree with your own reason and common sense. Siddhartha Guatamo, the Buddha.

Why so insecure?

Earlier this week, Irish posted about this article.  I read it and saw much truth in it.  I’ve carried a pocket knife for so many years, I feel naked without one.  My daily carry is a swiss army hiker and old timer lockblade, occasionally (more often than not) with a mora fixed blade on my hip.  Not being allowed to carry such a simple tool, is why I no longer fly in this country. (Note, I said tool. I stand by my words that I am the weapon, not the tools in my hands.)
But while discussing this with a guy at work, he asked me if I were feeling ‘insecure’; ‘why else do you need so many?’

Curiously enough, he didn’t have a pocket knife, or hip folder, or anything besides a credit card.

He’s also not known as the “git-er-dun” type.

Insecure? No. If I didn’t have them, or at least one of them (and its a toss up between the SAK and the Mora ) then yes, I’d likely feel a touch of insecurity.  Only a touch though. There is more info in this head, and my tools are for my convenience; I always have options.

The conversation brought to light, to me anyway, just how cock-knobbed this country has become. The guy I was talking to is only 3 years jr to me, but buys into the narrative: ie, you don’t have to worry, the .Gov has it under control.

It worries me that one of the pillars of this nation: be self sufficient , has been so belittled. A knife in a pocket is one step of that self-sufficiency IMO. (And I hear some modern women ask “where’d all the MEN go?)

,,,,

Frak it, I’m going to work.  I say ‘let it burn’, the ‘real men’ will still be here, and we’ll still have a knife in our pockets.
