Need a wood bearing or have a piece of wood that is going to be exposed to open water pretty much constantly?

Get a high heat vegetable oil, heat it to about 400-500°f and GENTLY drop your wood into it. Just like running a fryer, when it stops bubbling, its done. But don’t pull it yet, leave it in the oil and just remove both from the heat. As they cool, the ‘vacuum’ created by driving all the moisture out, will draw in the oil, completely saturating the wood. It makes a good wood bearing for wagon axles n such, and is naturally water repellent now. Hard woods with large grain patterns work best, but most all woods will do.
