An argument against universal healthcare.
Its been some time, years actually, since I read this, so my recollection of where I read it fails. The author made a statement that ready access to healthcare/emergency services/etc actually encouraged a certain amount of excessive risk acceptance. IE, if you know you can get patched up quickly, what the hell, go for it. Its when said services are at a great distance, or lacking in general, that people start to reassert caution in their activities.
Let me use climbers as an example. In sponsered/televised competitions, climbers will push the boundaries further than if they were in the backwoods ‘playing’. They will attempt holds that they would avoid in the backwoods, and not just because they are competing, but because emergency services are right there. Screwing up might hurt, but it won’t hurt for long, unlike in the backlands, where screwing up, even a in small way, is likely to end up fatal.(not the best analogy, but it works.)
Heres a different bend to the argument. In ‘The Incredibles” (yeah a kids movie, LOL) Syndrome talks about using his inventions to become famous, then selling them so that “every one can be a super! And when everyone can be a super, no one will be.” That line shows where all of this is headed. Universal healthcare will equal everyone being equally ill. Universal welfare will be equal poverty (unless you are in the power slots)
And that is what all of these counter-protesters want.
And the reason you aren’t seeing the huge backlash these jerks justifiably deserve is the fact the people who would deliver it are busy working to make ends meet after being raped to support the asshats protesting the very things that allow them a voice.
The healthcare jizz is only one strut in the structure to tear this country down. There are many others. Kevin Baker over at The Smallest Minority mentions that the Left own Acadamia, the Media, and the entertainment industry(read Hollywood). They have a huge foothold in the federal level government, but aren’t able to ram through the final strike they desire (what would have happened if the Witch had ‘won’?) So we are seeing escalation of the Brown shirt brigades.
The only thing I see happening from here is just further and further decline. Unless they get their wish and somehow, against all logic, are able to impeach Trump. Then, the deplorables will know, beyond any doubt, that they have no voice. No voice, leaves no choice.
Where it goes from there,,,
